Dear WSHS Families,

If you have already joined the WSHS PTSA for the 2025-2026 School Year, thank you! If you have not yet joined, please join now! An individual membership is $20 and a family membership is $30 (scholarships available). Sign up for West Seattle PTSA. Once you do, please fill out our volunteer survey and let us know how you’d like to get involved, please fill out our volunteer survey and let us know how you’d like to get involved and consider making a donation here consider making a donation. You can also subscribe to our event calendar (scroll to the bottom).

Joining the WSHS PTSA can help you stay informed and engaged about what’s happening at school. The PTSA puts on parent education events at our general meetings. The first is called “How to High School” and it includes a Q&A panel with faculty, staff and administrators, including Principal Vance, at our general meeting on Thursday, September 18 at 6:00 p.m. in the school library and online. Other topics have included mental health support, career and college planning, racial and LGBTQ equity, and substance abuse prevention. (Let us know what you’d like to learn about.)

The PTSA also works with faculty and staff to improve the educational experience at WSHS and to provide opportunities to all students at our school. Every year our mini-grant program gives dozens of faculty, staff and student groups a chance to address needs and seize opportunities that make our school a more enriching and fun place.

The PTSA also has a lot of fun! This year we’ll begin quarterly gatherings of parents at Larry’s Tavern for bingo and some community. That starts on Tuesday, October 7 at 7:00 p.m. for freshman parents. On Friday, November 14, we’ll host our Fall Fundraiser in the WSHS Commons. Friday, February 6 is Lunar New Year/Multi-Cultural Night Celebration. And, of course, the one and only West Seattle 5K will be on Sunday, May 17.

Please join us in making the most of another school year.

Take care,

Paul Bugala
