WSHS Celebrated the Year of the Rooster!

Rooster 2017To introduce Asian culture to our school, we celebrated the Lunar New Year during both lunches last Thursday in the cafeteria. As we have done in previous years, students performed lion dances, held a traditional Chinese wedding costume show, the Chinese god of wealth visited, students played Chinese chess, a Chinese spinning tops game, enjoyed Lunar New Year painting, a chopsticks M&M competition, paper crafts, and tea ceremonies. Food was sampled - egg rolls, dumplings, fried noodles, sticky rice cakes, edamame, fortune cookies and New Year candies. It was a delightful celebration! Big thanks to CIWA (Confucius Institute of the State of Washington) and the WSHS PTSA which sponsored the event! Also thanks to Ms. Nhu-Hien Nguyen who led students in making eggrolls and fried noodles!

    Fill out the FAFSA Today!

Graduating Senior? Everyone is eligible for some form of financial aid, no matter their circumstances, no matter which institution they are planning to attend (e.g. 2 yr. college or 4 yr. university), or whether they ultimately use the aid or not. It is also important to be aware that many colleges offer merit aid that doesn’t even consider financial need; merit aid is based on achievements such as grades, SAT scores or athletics. In other words, your financial circumstance does not matter for this type of aid, but you can’t get it if you don’t fill out the FAFSA. Filling out the FAFSA is easier than you think! It can take less than an hour to complete if you have all of your documents ready. Keep in mind, it is a free application.
