Attention Parents of Athletes:
Please make sure all physicals, athletic packets, and fees are turned in to the main office before Thursday August 21st. Football paperwork is due tomorrow Tuesday, August 19th. If you missed the Parent/Athletic meeting on Wednesday August 13th, there will be a make-up meeting on Tuesday August 26th at 7:00pm. This will be the only make-up meeting but paperwork is still due this Thursday the 21st , and ALL Football paperwork needs to be turned in tomorrow Tuesday, August 19th. Office hours to accept packets are 8:30am – 2:30pm. You can call Shelley Yeigh, our Athletic Secretary for any questions you might have at 252-8830. If your paperwork is not turned in on time, your student will not be able to practice until processed.

As the weather shifts, we begin preparing for another great year at West Seattle High School. With the start of school approaching we know that students get excited to find out what classes they will be taking. Please let your student know that schedules will be distributed on the first day of classes, Wednesday, September 3rd and that no schedules will be given out prior to that time.

Listed below are some important dates, events, and costs for your start of school planning.
August 13th FALL SPORT PACKETS ACCEPTED. Football practice begins August 20st and all other fall sports begin August 25th. Students must submit a current physical and approved paperwork to be eligible to play and practice, and fines must be paid up. Sports packets can be picked up in the main office.
August 27th: FRESHMAN FAMILY NIGHT 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
September 3rd: FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
9th GRADE SCHEDULE (w/Link Leaders):
7:20 - 7:50 Breakfast and lunch available for purchase.
7:50 -12:15 9th Grade Orientation – (Link Crew) wear comfortable clothing.
10th-12th GRADE SCHEDULE
7:30 - 11:50 Building CLOSED to upperclassmen (10-12)
11:00 New Upperclassmen (1-12) Orientation in Theatre
11:55-12:25 ALL Upperclassmen (10-12) lunch in the cafeteria (available for purchase)
9th-12th GRADE AFTERNOON SCHEDULE (Student’s get schedule on first day)
September 4th: SECOND DAY OF SCHOOL. School Starts at 7:50 am for ALL students.
School ends at 2:20 pm
September 19th: PICTURE DAY. Information will be sent home before picture day.
Supplies: Students will need pens, pencils, lined college paper, 2 inch notebook, 2-3 composition books, and if at all possible a graphing calculator (TI-84 will take them through high school math). Individual teachers may have specific needs.(See our posted web list on this same news and events page)
The staff at West Seattle High School is looking forward to the 2014-2015 school year. Enjoy the rest of the summer and we will see you on September 3rd.
West Seattle Booster Club (WSBC)
A member-based organization supporting all Athletes at West Seattle High School would like to invite all interested families to attend our first Meeting of the year on September 10th, 7PM in the Schools Library. To learn more about WSBC, go to www.westseattleboosterclub.org

If you did not pick up your diploma at graduation or before school was out you can pick this after counselors return on August 25.

West Seattle High School Band Camp will be on September 6th and 7th on the field at Madison Middle School. It will go from 10am-3pm on Saturday 9/6 and from 10am-1pm with a family BBQ/Picnic following camp on 9/7.
The cost is $30 which includes food, beverages, snacks and a band t-shirt. Payments should be made out to WSHS Music and brought to the band director, Ethan Thomas, the first week of school in September.
