    Suicide Prevention Training for Parents

On Wednesday, October 24th from 7 to 8:30pm in the WSHS Library, please join our PTSA as they host a LEARN™ Suicide Prevention Training for parents and guardians. The LEARN™ steps are designed to help empower individuals to play a role in recognizing peers, friends, and family who might be having thoughts of suicide, and to know how and where we can refer those individuals to keep them safe. Come learn about how to help your children and their friends stay safe! All parents/guardians welcome! This training is offered free of cost. Questions? Contact Kari Lombard (School Nurse) at KRLombard@seattleschools.org or Mallory Neuman (Head Counselor) at MLNeuman@seattleschools.org.

From the parent of a graduated WSHS Senior: “I think some people will read this and think that if they don’t have anyone in their lives who fits the description of suicidal, or with mental health issues, depression, etc., then it doesn’t pertain to them and they shouldn’t attend. One never knows what will unfold, especially with many kids going off to college… I think the more our community can be educated the more we and our kids can help each other. It’s important that our kids know how to support others if they ever find themselves in this situation. It can save a life.”
