WSHS will be hosting our fourth annual Forefront Suicide Prevention parent night, Thursday February 11th from 7-8:30 pm. This topic has never been more important as suicide rates are up in King County and across the nation.  Preventing death by suicide is everyone’s job- from school staff to parents, friends and the community as a whole.  WSHS has partnered with Forefront in the Schools to educate our entire West Seattle community on suicide and how we, as a team, can prevent it from happening.

This parent night will focus on learning the stats and risk factors for teen suicide, as well as teaching parents active listening skills and how to listen to their teens with empathy.  The event will be virtual, but please be prepared to take notes and participate in small groups.  RSVP is required- please do so at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUucu6qrTspEtGgiQ-qMI5ZapVizt7Lja4V.  The link for the event will be sent out 24 hours in advance to the email address you register with.  If you have questions, please contact school counselor Mallory Neuman at mlneuman@seattleschools.org.
