    INFORMATION FOR PARENTS OF STUDENTS TAKING AP COURSES

    We are writing to inform you of important and time sensitive updates for your student who is currently enrolled in one or more AP courses at WSHS.  Please review, and if you have further questions, please contact your student’s AP teacher.  We appreciate your flexibility as we work to navigate logistics surrounding the AP Program at Seattle Public Schools.

    Exam Registration Completed November 12th, 2020 NOW CLOSED

    All students who wished to take AP exams completed registration on myap.collegeboard.org before November 12, 2020 and enrolled in their AP class sections using a unique join code provided by their AP teachers. Students created a College Board account making sure not to use their school email assigned to them by Seattle Public Schools. It is extremely important to remember the LOGIN AND EMAIL.

    Payment & Refunds Deadline for payments March 7, 2021

    In previous years, we have collected AP exam fees during the registration period.  However, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, our collection window runs from February 1 through March 1, 2021.  We hope that there will be more information available by mid-February, so that you and your student will be able to make an informed decision on whether to pay for AP exams or not.  If you do pay for the exam but decide later to cancel the exam, you will receive a full refund.  Please note that refunds take time to process and will likely not be available until summer of 2021. The fee is $102 per exam; however, students who receive Free or Reduced Lunch do not have to pay this fee. Payment is accessed through SchoolPay found on the Parent’s Source account.

    Seattle Public Schools offers an online option for applying for FRL. This must be completed annually. Please note that included in the application is an option to receive support with Advanced Placement and College Board fees. Please make sure to check that box as families must opt into the program to receive a waiver for the AP fees. You may access the application here:

    Testing Options

    Currently, Seattle Public Schools is working with College Board to allow for remote testing. If Seattle Public Schools is still working remotely, the option for in-person testing will be unavailable for any student. We hope to have final testing options and dates available to families by March.

    We realize that students and their families may not have decided if they are ready to take the AP exams due to the remote learning, so please know that AP Teachers will work to support your decision. Testing is not a requirement to receive high school credit for the class. However, please note that if payment is not made by March 1, your exam registration will be canceled and the opportunity to take the AP exam for college credit will go away, but the AP course will remain on the student’s transcript.
