    West Seattle Clubs and Activities

    West side student-oriented activities are designed to provide additional educational opportunities for students. WSHS offers a variety of clubs for students to be involved in and there is something for YOU  here at West Seattle High School!

    Please contact the staff member who is the advisor of any club you are interested in joining.  If a club a web page for their group, click on the group name to get to it.

    YMCA at West Seattle High School

    The YMCA offers a wide variety of in-school and after-school activities designed so that you will enhance your talents, learn new skills, and prepare for life after graduation. 

    Ultimate Frisbee – Fall and Spring Seasons will be available.  Come play with the West Seattle High School Ultimate Frisbee team after school with Coach Scott – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

    Rock Out! Music Production – Want to learn how to play an instrument, write songs, be a part of a band, and perform?  In this student-driven group, you will practice the skills to create and produce music with Daniel Pak.  No experience necessary! – Daniel Pak,Wednesdays after school Room 271 -1:00-3:00 (Early Dismissal Days),3:00-5:00

    Lunchtime Chess with Charlie – Improve your chess skills by playing your peers or challenge Charlie.  Drop in, have fun in the student Commons – Tuesdays both lunches

    Lunchtime Open Gym – Basketball - The far side of the GYM will be open for organized “open” gym basketball.  Students will need to signup to play.  No Food or Drink allowed in Gym – Days TBD

    Get R.E.A.L. Mentor Program – Leadership Skills and healthy relationship building among students.  You can also volunteer to mentor students at Madison Middle School. –Thursdays during both Lunches

    YMCA Earth Conservation Corps – Do you want to speak your mind about environmental issues and promote change in our community? Join this club to earn service hours and help with the composting program at lunch! – Thursdays at Lunch room 141

    Cartooning Club – Would you like to learn more about cartooning and how to draw?  If so the cartooning club will be perfect for you!Thursdays after school 2:30-4:30 room 158

    Student Lounge and Game Center – Come play Ping Pong in the student lounge or check out some board games in the Y office. – Monday-Friday

    Y Connect – This new program is an all around support for your learning.  You, your family, your teachers, and the Y will be connected to support your High School experience – Thursdays (Space is Limited) –Room 150

    MASH and Study Club – Located in the Library Tuesday and Thursdays.  YMCA Tutor Andrew Reder will be in room 202 (Ms Huong’s Class)

    Service Groups

    GROUP PURPOSE CONTACT
    Earth Service Corps To work together towards a cleaner, greener school environment.  We run composting and recycling in the lunch room, we have a rain garden and an edibles garden, and we are working to certify WSHS as a WA State Green School.

    Key Club    Part of an international student club focused on community service.  Key Club is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities.

    Ms. Murdock

    National Honor Society Students in grades 10-12 can join if they have a GPA of 3.5 or above.  This club is focused on community service and academic success.

    Student Government

    This group provides an opportunity for leadership throughout the year for those elected to Class or ASB offices.  2.5 minimum accumulative GPA requirement.


    Link Crew

    Link Crew is a high school transition program that works to train high school juniors and seniors as peer mentors (Link Leaders) for incoming 9th graders, and these mentors serve as positive role models and help guide the freshmen through a successful transition to high school.

    Drama Club The purpose of the drama club is twofold: to offer an environment in which students can learn about the theatre and have an opportunity to express those talents not addressed by other extracurricular activities; and to offer theatrical entertainments to both the students and community of West Seattle.
