CTE Hosts Student Showcase & South Seattle College Big Announcement

Join UsOur Career Tech Education Department will be showcasing student work at an Exhibition on Thursday, May 25th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Creations by our students - ceramics, photography, drawing, music, culinary treats, woodworking, CAD design, auto mechanics, and IT will be on display and students will serve as docents, talking to parents and community members about their creations. Faculty from South Seattle College will be attending.

At this event, we will also be announcing our exciting new partnership with South Seattle College. WSHS has just been designated a 13th Year Promise Scholarship school which means any student who graduates from WSHS (starting with Class 2018) can attend SSC 1st year tuition FREE. We believe our school helps students to launch their career pathways in high paying, in-demand professional/technical fields. Now with the 1st year FREE, a student can obtain a degree/certification (no more than 1.5 years) in many in-demand professions at a fraction of the cost.

Judges Sought for Senior Projects

Volunteers NeededIt’s May already, and the class of 2017 is preparing to take flight. The last big assignment for them is the 10-minute oral presentation of their research for their senior project, a West Seattle High School tradition for over twenty years, and a requirement for their senior English Language Arts class. We are looking for judges and wonder if you would like to take part? If you are a parent of an underclassmen or rising senior, this would be a great way to see what senior project is all about, and give feedback to current seniors for all their hard work.

There will be six presentation days: June 5, June 6, June 7, June 8, June 9. The presentations are from 3:30 to 6:30 each day. Come and sign up a friend, and then go out for dinner afterwards. Please email Kira Hopkins if you have interest: Let me know which day you prefer, and if you have a friend who will judge with you.
