WSHS Rooter Bus for Students/ Girl's BB State Tournament

Hello Westside Families,

If your student plans on driving to the WIAA State Games for Girls Basketball on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, you must call and excuse your student. You can do so by calling the attendance office at 252-8804. If no call is made, your student will be marked as unexcused.

For those students who want to go but do not have a ride, we will have a Rooter Bus going to the games all 3 days. The cost for the Rooter Bus will be $5 per day. There will be permission forms to ride the bus available in the main office, or you can print it off our website/athletics age. http://westseattlehs.seattleschools.org/

They were also handed out to students today. You must have your fee and the permission slip turned in tomorrow, March 4th during lunch to ride the Rooter Bus. Again, if you do not turn your permission form in tomorrow during your lunch period with your fee, you will not be allowed on the bus any of the days.

The rooter buses leave WSHS at 12:30pm, and departs Tacoma at 4:30pm, arrives back at West Seattle High School at 5:30pm. The cost for entrance is $12 without ASB and $10 with ASB.

Thanks and Go Wildcats!

The other games will be on Friday and Saturday. I will be working with Coach Elliott and Administration on details. Just a heads-up we will be offering a Rooter Bus for students. The band and cheerleaders will also be going. I already have a list of chaperones who are willing to ride along on the Rooter Buses and help supervise J
We also will be having a PEP Rally on Thursday to send the girls off in style

Thursday morning  we will be on the am assembly schedule. Students will take attendance in class first, then head to the gym.
Playoff Schedule is as follows:
We play at 2:00pm on Thursday
When we win – we play at 5:30pm on Friday
If we were to lose – we play at 10:30am on Friday

There will be rooter buses going to the DOME all three days. We will have permission slips for the Rooter bus tomorrow and collect the slips on Wednesday. The bus will cost $5.00 / day. If a student only takes the bus Friday, it would be $5.00. If a student wants to take the bus all 3 days, it will be $15.00. monies (cash or checks) will be collected by ASB.
If the student wants to drive themselves, a parent or guardian needs to call into attendance and excuse them before Thursday.  The cost for entrance is $12 without ASB and $10 with ASB.

Highly Capable Applications Now Open
High school students are now able to apply for identification as Highly Capable. A revision to state law has opened the HC designation to qualified high school students who are not already identified and wish to apply.

Families of students in grades 9 to 11 must submit a referral form by Feb. 27 and the remainder of the application packet by March 26.

Go to our Advanced Learning pages at http://seattleschools.org/advlearning  to access forms and learn more about whether this would be appropriate for your teen.
New Assignment Look-Up Tool

The district has created an easy-to-use Assignment Look-Up Tool on the Seattle Public Schools Admissions website (http://enrollment.www.seattleschools.org) allowing families greater ease in identifying their student’s assigned school both this year and the next school year. The tool will be available Feb. 23.

Families will no longer be mailed a next-year assignment letter for each student in mid-February. In the past, we took this extra step to help families transition to our New Student Assignment Plan as enrollment growth boundaries changed and while we established attendance area schools and choice assignments. HERE is the letter that will be sent to families informing them of this change.

Those wishing to change their current or assigned school can do so during Open Enrollment, Feb. 23 – March 6. Full instructions on how to participate in Open Enrollment and choose a different school can be found on the Admissions website at http://bit.ly/Apply-OpenEnrollment or by contacting the Admissions office at (206) 252-0760.
