Student Activities

Westside student-oriented activities are designed to provide additional educational opportunities for students. WSHS offers a variety of clubs for students to be involved in and there is something for YOU here at West Seattle High School!

The ASB program is designed to provide leadership opportunities for student leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to develop into a more effective leader, and be of service to this school. Officers will be involved in planning, implementing, promoting and evaluating a variety of school activities such as spirit weeks, assemblies, dances and so on. At the same time, officers will learn about group dynamics, parliamentary procedure, ASB law, decision-making methods and time management.

YMCA at West Seattle High School

The YMCA offers a wide variety of in-school and after-school activities designed so that you will enhance your talents, learn new skills, and prepare for life after graduation. 
 
YMCA NEWS – SEE ALL THE NEW OPPORTUNITIES:

Youth Venture with Ashoka: Future leaders: start your own business, earn community service hours, and get a jump start on preparing for college all at the same time! Mondays, room 207, 2:45-4:15 pm beginning October 1st.

COOKING CLASSES EVERY WEDNESDAY The YMCA has cooking class every Wednesday from 2:45pm until 4:15pm in the Prostart room. Come to meet other students and eat new, exciting and delicious foods!!!

CARTOONING CLASS – LEARN HOW TO CREATE AND DRAW YOUR OWN COMIC BOOK Are you an inspiring artist? Do you like cartooning?? If so the YMCA is offering a cartooning class every Thursday from 2:45pm to 4:15pm. Come and learn about cartooning and how to create and draw your own comic book!

ORIGAMI CLUB Hey West Side students. If you are interested in Origami and all of the cool and wonderful things you can make out of just plain sheets of paper the YMCA is going to start an Origami club next month. To hear more information or to sign up to join in on all the fun. Please stop by the Y office (room 150) and ask Mr. Green all about it!

ZUMBA, ZUMBA, ZUMBA Zumba, Zumba, ZUMBA!! Come work out and listen to great music as you get into great shape with the YMCA every Tuesday from 3:30-4:30pm. As usual please see Mr. Green from the YMCA to sign up!

HIGH DANCE CLASS EVERY WEDNESDAY Come join the YMCA's West Seattle High dance class. Every student that loves to dance is welcome. Classes are on Wednesdays in room 271. See Mr. Green for more information. Come out and show off your moves!!

Feel free to stay after school in the commons or Y office (room 150) for board games, card games, video games, or just to hang out!

Earth Service Corps This YMCA sponsored group is involved in environmental community service projects. Ms. Hall
Key Club    Key Club is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club members build themselves as they build their schools and communities.

National Honor Society Open to sophomores through seniors who meet the academic criteria.  This group performs various acts of community service over the course of the year. Ms. Sylanski
Student Government

This group provides an opportunity for leadership throughout the year for those elected to Class or ASB offices.  2.5 minimum accumulative GPA requirement.

Link Crew

Link Crew is a high school transition program that works to train high school juniors and seniors as peer mentors (Link Leaders) for incoming 9th graders, and these mentors serve as positive role models and help guide the freshmen through a successful transition to high school.
