    Attention Incoming AP Students

    attentionStudents who will take AP classes next year should come meet your future AP teachers during lunch on Wednesday, June 14th. Students will meet in the theater and will be able to pick up summer homework assignments while finding out a little more about the cool things they’ll be doing next year!     Baseball Team Fundraiser: Mariners vs. Astros

    MarinersThe baseball team is selling 1000 tickets to the Saturday, June 24th Mariners Game. Tickets are $18 each and it's a 7:10pm first pitch. It's "Turn Back the Clock Night" and the first 20K fans will receive a retro Mariners cap courtesy of Stihl. Help support the WSHS Baseball team and buy your tickets today!     Prom Details

    promOur Senior Prom is themed “Celebrating One Hundred Years” and will be held at Within Sodo,located at 2916 Utah Ave S on Friday, June 16th from 8-11PM. Tickets are $25 or $20 with an ASB sticker. Drinks, light snacks and desserts will be served. There will two photo companies at prom who will provide professional photos free of charge to attendees. Parking is not included but there are multiple parking garages and street parking available surrounding the venue. Encourage your student to buy their tickets during lunch. Students are counting down to the big event!

    Student Opportunities

    Learn Arabic, Chinese or Korean This Summer

    worldOneWorld Now!’s three-week summer camp for high school students focuses on fostering language acquisition, intercultural understanding and a desire to experience the world. Students can enroll in beginning Modern Standard Arabic, Mandarin Chinese or Korean and will learn through immersion classes, guest speakers, cultural activities and field trips. There is a $25 registration fee but thanks to continued support from STARTALK, there are no other fees or deposits to attend this camp; all meals, snacks and supplies will be provided. The deadline to apply is June 21, 2017. Learn more.

    United Way Summer Job

    Work for United Way to provide high-quality meals and educational programming for community youth. Students would receive training and professional development, a $1,222 monthly stipend, and a $1,194 AmeriCorps Education Award for student loans summer job opportunityor future education.     Earn Service Hours this Summer

    Arbor Heights Elementary is seeking science mentors (no experience required) for a summer program being held from July 10-14, 9AM-3:30PM. Students will earn 40 hours of service toward their graduation requirement. Contact Helen Maynard for a connection.

    Student Recognition

    Jazz Band Visits NYC

    Jazz BandMr. Thomas and the Jazz Ensemble recently flew across country to New York City recently for a whirlwind tour of the city and an amazing recording session at Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music. The trip was covered in the West Seattle Blog. Students also participated in a workshop at Lincoln Center. What an amazing experience for our stellar students.

    Time for Seniors to Check Out!

    Senior checkout will take place between June 12-16. Seniors will receive their checkout Are you Ready?form during their LA class on June 12 and must have their form completed with all of the required signatures by the end of the school day on June 16. Senior checkout will include the following:

    • Gather final grades with teacher signature
    • All fines paid/cleared
    • Student to see their counselor about State Assessments
    • Pick up all Medication from the nurse's office
    • Students attending a 4 year university must provide their counselor with a stamped, addressed envelope to the university that they are attending so that final transcripts can be mailed.
    • Student will complete a short survey
    • Counselors will provide the final signature after all other tasks have been completed. This will be their “ticket” to graduation rehearsal.

    Any student who has not completed their senior checkout form will not be allowed to participate in rehearsal and graduation.

    Graduation DetailsClass of 2017

    The last day for Seniors is Monday, June 19th and will start at 9AM with the Senior Breakfast. Graduation rehearsal begins directly after breakfast and is mandatory for students who wish to walk. Graduation will be held at 8PM on Wednesday, June 21 at the SW Athletic Center across from Sealth.

    Grad Night Party Details

    Class of 2017 Senior Graduation Night Party - Keep Your Grad Safe!

    • What is it? A safe, fun and chaperoned all-night graduation party for seniors
    • When? Wednesday, June 21 at 9:30PM to Thursday, June 22 at 6AM
    • Where? Meet in Southwest Athletic Complex (SWAC) parking lot immediately following graduation ceremony to be transported by bus to secret entertainment venues with activities, entertainment, food and non-stop fun, fun, fun!
    • Cost? Discounted ticket price is $75, actual ticket cost is $175. Please pay what you are able to pay from $75 to $175. Discounted ticket price will increase to $100 on June 1st. We depend on fundraisers, donations and volunteers to help keep ticket prices low, so please support us!
    • How to register? Download the registration form in WSHS main office or register on WSHS PTSA website (click on Grad Night link on left hand side).

    VolunteerSenior Graduation Night Party chaperones needed!!! Please consider volunteering to help chaperone our Senior Graduation Night Party. The party is a safe and fun way for our seniors to celebrate all night long with their friends immediately following graduation. We welcome parents, guardians, aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpas as chaperones; we need chaperones to make the party happen! We especially encourage parents/guardians/relations of juniors to chaperone and see what the party is all about, since their children will be seniors next year! Chaperones can volunteer to help for the entire evening, or take a shift from 9PM to 2AM or from 2AM to 6AM.
