    FutureWest Seattle HS's Career Center will host a College and Career Fair this Friday from 9:45 to 11:45AM.     Teen Mental Health Panel - Thursday

    don't missAre you an adult who wants to learn about ways to talk to your teen about difficult emotions or mental health issues? The students on our WSHS Student Health Council are committed to engaging in a dialogue with the adults in their lives about mental health from the adolescent perspective. A student panel will address a broad range of topics such as anxiety, stress, depression, suicide, and relationships with parents and teachers. A mental health counselor from Neighborcare Health at WSHS will be available to guide the discussion. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

    Trivia Night at Talaricos to Benefit WSHS Y Program

    This Wednesday, Talaricos will support our WSHS Y Program by hosting a Trivia Night starting at 8:30PM. Cost is $3 per person and there will be a match on monies raised. There will also be $1 raffles. Come support this great student program at WSHS!

    Nominations for Golden Acorn & Apple Due May 5

    Nominations PleaseEach year the WSHS PTSA gives an Outstanding Educator and an Outstanding Volunteer Award. The Outstanding Educator recognizes individuals who have gone beyond the normal expectations of their jobs to make the learning environment fun, beneficial and challenging. An outstanding educator could be a teacher, assistant, custodian, administrator, or community member. The Golden Acorn Award is presented to a volunteer in recognition of his/her dedication and service to children and youth.

    Award winners receive a pin and a certificate from the Washington State PTA. Their names are added to a plaque on display in the WSHS office, and PTSA contributes $65 in each winner’s name to the Washington State PTA Scholarship Foundation, which provides scholarships to post-secondary students. Please help us identify outstanding educators from our WSHS community for this special award. Our awards committee will review your nominations and make the final selections after May 5.     Baseball Team Fundraiser: Mariners vs. Astros

    MarinersThe baseball team is selling 1000 tickets to the Saturday, June 24th Mariners Game. Tickets are $18 each and it's a 7:10pm first pitch.     West Seattle 5k - Less Than a Month Away!

    WS5K 2017The West Seattle 5k is our Spring Fundraiser to raise much needed funds for West Seattle High School supported by the PTSA. Proceeds from previous events have been used to improve math, science, music, drama and communications at West Seattle High School. With school budget cuts, fundraising is essential to support the quality education and programs our students receive. You do not need to be a runner to participate. Walkers are welcome, as well as strollers and leashed dogs. This is a family friendly event on a flat course. Those who love to run can shoot for a PR on our fast course and a shot at some great prizes from West Seattle Runner and Salty’s on Alki. Everyone gets a cool tech t-shirt and swag bag.

    Spring Testing Schedule

    Annual testing at WSHS begins next week with AP exams (see full schedule below). Additional testing is as follows:

    Senior News

    Graduation DetailsClass of 2017

    The last day for Seniors is Monday, June 19th and will start at 9AM with the Senior Breakfast. Graduation rehearsal begins directly after breakfast and is mandatory for students who wish to walk. Graduation will be held at 8PM on Wednesday, June 21 at the SW Athletic Center across from Sealth.

    Grad Night attendees will leave from SWAC at 10PM and return to the WSHS parking lot at 6AM on Thursday. Download the details about this fun event for our grads. Tickets are $75.

    Student Opportunities

    Food Bank Service Project

    Service Learning HoursOne West Seattle has organzized a service project to help WSHS student gain service hours for graduation. In this project, Students will participate in a food drive at the West Seattle Thriftway benefiting the West Seattle Food Bank (WSFB). Job duties will include cheerfully encouraging donations by asking patrons if they would like a WSFB wish list, supervising the collection barrels outside both doors of the store, and packaging up collected food and loading it into the food bank van.     South Seattle College 13th Year Promise Scholarship for Class of 2018

    ScholarshipSouth Seattle College would like to announce West Seattle High School as the next school to be included in the 13th Year Promise Scholarship, sponsored by the South Seattle College Foundation. West Seattle High School seniors graduating in June 2018 will have the opportunity to attend South Seattle College, tuition-free for their first year! Tuition provided by the 13th Year Promise Scholarship is paid through private funds and financial aid grants. The 13th Year Promise Scholarship is sponsored by the South Seattle College Foundation.     Public Library Student Assistant Program

    Summer JobThe Student Assistant Program gives young people valuable work experience at the Library. Teens ages 16 and older are invited to learn about and apply to the Student Assistant Program at The Seattle Public Library. Eligible students have until 5 p.m., Sunday, April 30, 2017 to apply.
